Is there a Spacer for the Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump?

Updated 07/23/2026 | Published 04/26/2026

Question:

Hi team - the install manual for the Chill Cube recommends a rood thickness of = 3.5”. I’ve read a spacer is needed for roofs with less than 3.5”, but curious if there is a product I can buy for spacing? Or alternatives for a successful mount and seal compression. Thanks!

Hey Nick, welcome back! There is a foam divider that is included with the Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump item # FR77TQ. We've had customers trim this to accommodate a thinner roof. Furrion does not make a specific spacer kit though.

The Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump item # FR77TQ includes an air distribution box designed for ductless applications. So long as you seal up the outside of the 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" cutout you won't have to worry about air getting in or out. Between that and the divider you'll have a good seal.

What kind of trailer or motorhome are you installing this AC/heat pump combo on?

I have been waiting for the Chill Cub with heat pump but I have a vintage Silver Streak and the roof is only 2 inches thick. I don't want to come down further on the inside or go up further on the outside. Do you have any pictures of how others have managed this install?

@Eric I do not have a picture but I've seen a few online since you sent in your original question. The air distribution box is lower inside the RV and it looks like there's a picture frame between it and the top of the ceiling. You'd lose an 1-1/2" of ceiling height right above the air distribution box if you installed the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump item # FR77TQ on a 2" ceiling. We've also had customers use shorter mounting bolts to accommodate the thinner roofs when installing the Chill Cubes like item # FR77TQ. The GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System w/ Heat Pump item # GE94RR in white or item # GE34RR in black would be comparable alternatives that wouldn't require a spacer. They're designed to fit ceilings as thin as 2". They do require you install a thermostat though.
