When you want to keep gear out of sight and safe from weather or theft, the RetraxPRO MX makes it simple. The 1" thick aluminum slats are impact and weather resistant, so they won’t dent or warp from heavy use. The matte black finish is scratch resistant and won’t fade in the sun. A pop-up locking handle lets you open or close the cover with one hand and secure it at any point along the rails. Close it and lock your tailgate, and your cargo stays sealed off from prying eyes and rain alike.
Hauling something tall or long doesn’t mean removing your cover. The manual retractable design glides on sealed ball-bearing rollers, so it rolls open quickly without binding or needing lubrication. There are no joints or hinges to freeze or wear out, which keeps the movement smooth year after year. The cover retracts fully into a compact canister with a spiral track system that prevents the slats from rubbing together, leaving you full use of your bed space when you need it.
Rain, snow, and dust stay out thanks to weather stripping and foam seals on all sides. The cover overlaps the top of the tailgate to block water intrusion, and any moisture that reaches the canister is routed out through two included drain tubes. The tubes direct runoff through the truck’s factory drain holes, helping prevent mildew and keeping the canister dry inside.
This cover doesn’t just protect cargo—it adds a refined, streamlined look. The rails sit only 1" above the bed for a low-profile finish, and the top panel overlaps the canister and bulkhead for a clean, flush appearance. Beneath that sleek look is serious strength: the aluminum panels support up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight, easily handling snow buildup or gear placed on top.
Getting this cover mounted is straightforward. The side rails attach to the canister with supplied screws, and the entire assembly clamps to your bed rails—no drilling needed. Once the rails are square, just add the drain tubes and it’s ready to use. The straightforward setup means you’ll be rolling the cover open and closed in no time.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". The sealed ball bearing rollers within the cover make opening and closing easy.
And because they're sealed, they're maintenance free. The whole thing is made out of an industrial strength aluminum, it's gonna keep out the elements and it can support distributed loads of up to 500 pounds. When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!
