Recommended 72" Long Fenders for a Tandem Axle Trailer

Updated 07/09/2026 | Published 07/05/2026

Question:

I am replacing the fenders on my lowboy trailer with dual wheels. The ones I took off measure 70x9x20.5. I have not been able to find any that are 70” long. Not sure why. Is the 72” fender going to be the closest I can get? Thanks.

It sure is Harvey. We don't have any 70" long ones. We have two options for 72" long x 9" wide x 20-1/2" tall trailer fenders. Both of them are made of steel and have built in backing plates. The difference is going to be the tear drop extension in the middle of the fenders that separates the wheels. I have listed both options below:

Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders w/ Backing Plates - Steel - Qty 2 item # HP32VR

Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders w/ Backing Plates - Steel - Qty 2 item # HP82VR

Unless you're wanting that accent piece that divides the tires, I recommend the Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders w/ Backing Plates item # HP82VR. This is a pair of fenders that are designed for 15" or 16" wheels. They can be bolted or welded on so the additional inch in length on either side would only be a concern if you've got stake pockets or some other obstruction. The fenders are made of 16-gauge steel and come unfinished so you'll need to paint them.

What do you haul on your trailer?
