Looking For Disc Brake Conversion For 2007 EZ Loader Trailer

Updated 06/19/2026 | Published 06/16/2026

Question:

I am interested in replacing the drum brakes on my 2007 EZLoader trailer with disc brakes for use in saltwater. The model number is K7GAAMPH0004000. Can you recommend me the parts for replacement? Thank you John

Hey John, thanks for reaching out. We will have a disc brake kit for you, but there isn't a way to use that model number to determine exactly what you need. Trailer manufacturers just aren't that specific with their online literature.

The main thing I'll need to know is what axle your trailer has. Specifically, the axle capacity and spindle size. That'll be the determining factor in what disc brake kit will fit.

For example, if your trailer has two standard 7,000 lb axles, you can use the following:

- Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - 7K # HSE7K-T1

This is a full conversion kit, so you get everything you need to switch from electric drum to EOH disc brakes. You get the rotors, calipers, brake pads and brackets, plus the EOH actuator and brake line kit. The only other thing you'd need is an EOH compatible brake controller in your tow vehicle.

From here I'd recommend looking to see if your axle has a tag that shows the weight capacity and specs. Or if you can tell me the casting number on one of your brake drums, I may be able to pull up your axle specs that way. If that fails, you can always remove a hub and measure the bearings. It'll also help to know your wheel bolt pattern.

Shoot me that info when you can and I'm happy to look into it and make sure you get the right thing.

Jesse, I pulled the brake drum and can see that the axle is stamped "TA 1750". Google is telling me that this is a 3500K axle. The trailer is dual axle and has a GVWR of 5000 lbs (trailer is a 1000 lbs). Outer bearing surface is 1-1/16", Inner bearing surface is 1-3/8" and oil seal surface is 1-5/8". I will be only placing brakes on the front axle. thanks. John

@JohnL Yep! That is a 3,500 lb axle. We have exactly what you'll need to add disc brakes to that. Here is what I recommend: - Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HBA16-252-82 - DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Maxx Coating - 3,500 lbs # DE66YR You'll just need to make sure the brake controller in your tow vehicle is EOH compatible. What tow vehicle do you have? What brake controller is in it?
