Finding the right balance is key to safe, smooth towing, and this hitch makes it simple. The built-in scale shows your trailer’s tongue weight so you can confirm it’s in the 10–15% sweet spot of your gross towing weight. If it’s off, just open the Weigh Safe app, input your measurements, and it’ll tell you the distributed tongue weight to aim for. Then you adjust the lead screw until the scale matches that number. No more guessing or trial and error—just a perfectly balanced setup ready for the road.

When the wind kicks up or big trucks blow by, you want your trailer to hold steady. The True Tow’s integrated sway control and trunnion spring bar system use tension and friction points to keep sway in check while maintaining smooth handling. It evens out the load across your axles and reduces steering strain so your trailer tracks straight without the white-knuckle moments.
Built from high-strength steel, this hitch is made for serious towing. It’s rated for a maximum gross towing weight of 12,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 1,250 lbs, and it uses a 2-5/16" stainless steel hitch ball that resists rust and corrosion. It’s certified to V5 and J684 safety standards, giving you the confidence that your setup can handle the job mile after mile.
The adjustable shank fits 2-1/2" receivers and gives you up to 6" of drop or 7" of rise with 1-1/4" incremental height adjustments. That makes leveling your trailer quick and precise. The included hitch lock secures the shank to your vehicle so you can park or stop along the way without worry. Once it’s set, the system stays tight and stable through every turn and bump.
You don’t have to unhook or disable sway control when reversing or maneuvering in tight spaces. The hitch allows full backing without extra steps, making campground parking and tricky driveways a lot easier. Combined with its quiet operation and even weight distribution, it turns long drives into calm, controlled towing instead of a stressful chore.

This is the best weight distribution hitch. The instructions are very detailed plus the downloadable app makes it easy to dial in the proper weight distribution across the trailer and truck. After installing mine, both the camper and tow vehicle were perfectly level. The installation is a very doable DIY project.
The hardware and design look great. The issue is that it is dependent on a companion app. The app the manual says to download is incompatible with the current Android OS. The other available Weigh Safe app, won't take/use the "optional" weight distribution load ratings so that according to the app my F-150 with max tow package rated for 12000 lbs with 1220lb tongue wt rating when using a WDH. Weigh Safe customer support puts you on hold for 10 minutes and then punts you to voice mail. Hence the single star.
Very easy install. Item was received very quick. Have not towed with it yet. Will update after first two. Reno to San Francisco ( major mountains and curves)
We purchased it for a trip to Florida. Stopped right now at camping world to get a different sway bar. The weigh safe one was causing the trailer to sway all over the place. We followed the app, we reached out to weigh safe and did what they suggested. It has been a horrible trip driving with this sway bar. We even took the bars off after weigh safe said to try driving it without. We need to return the product. E trailer has been amazing, just this sway bar doesn’t like our truck and trailer.
This is one of the nicest hitches that I have seen. It did a great job on our road trip and the piece of mind and confidence in the wind that it gave us was worth every penny.
Great service as usual! Fast delivery!
Not too difficult to install, directions are clear and the e trailer video is helpful. The app was a little problematic, but the website calculator works.
I wanted to take a moment and share my experience. I had some delays with shipping of product and after speaking with the customer service team, it arrived onto time. If it was not for their hard work and dedication I would strained and not able to complete my trip! The service is the best in the business!
A little challenging to install as a DIY. It’s important to have the right tools available. The hitch is a game saver. Just drove on the freeway through high winds. Our travel trailer pulled so easy. It was a much more relaxing drive.
Everything came well packaged. Install was pretty easy just take your time. The app took some messing around to understand what they were looking for. I will find out shortly how it works towing on our trip.
Excellent Quality! Box arrived in perfect condition (thanks, UPS!). The inside packaging was very neat and was in perfect condition. Great instructions, great App. Seems like an excellent product so far. I haven't made a two with it yet, but will update soon after. I'm anticipating greatness!
16 F250 towing 24' encl trailer. So far 1500 miles towing has been great. Nearly zero porpoising or sway. Set up seemed difficult from the videos and instructions but was actually a breeze. Was very quick and easy. W the f250 4x4 you probably only need 4" drop as the 6" is pretty low. Although my TT has a ton of clearance so you may need the rise w those as the 250 hitch only sits at 19" i also have a curt trutrack 4p which is very heavy to place on the receiver. The WS feels way lighter but maybe it's just the way its balanced. Also like that you can make adjustments easier w the WS vs the curt. The min torque on the WS is 150ft lb which everyone has a trq wrench for that, do yourself a favor and put more torque as it'll need it. Nothing w WS its just what happens w movement.

Hey Rebecca. I'm sorry to hear that happened on your trip. In my experience with weight distribution, if there is not enough weight on the tongue and too much weight in the rear of the trailer, it can cause fish tailing. If you're hauling a toy hauler it can sometimes get tricky moving things around so that you're not too rear heavy to use the weight distribution. I can look more into this for you, just would need to know your tongue weight and trailer specifications. Let me know when you can :)
