How Do I Shut Off The Dylux Tankless Water Heater In Travel Trailer In Between Trips?

Published 05/27/2026

Question:

I bought the Dylux DY54FR for my travel trailer. When I shut the camper down between trips, do I just turn off the wall controller, or should I shut anything else off too?

Hey Denise! For the Dylux RV Tankless Water Heater # DY54FR, I would not treat the wall controller as the only shutdown point. The operating label on the heater says to shut off the gas, electrical, and water supply to the appliance when turning it off.

For normal between-trip shutdown, I’d turn the heater/controller off, shut off the LP gas supply to the water heater or at the propane cylinder if you’re closing the whole RV down, and shut off the water supply or pump if the camper is not being used. If you’re storing it or expecting cold weather, you’ll also want to drain and winterize it instead of relying on powering it off.

Denise, are you mainly parking it between weekend trips, or are you putting it into longer seasonal storage?
