Operating Procedure For Fist Time Use On Dylux Tankless Water Heater In Camper
Published 05/27/2026 >
Question:
I just finished installing the Dylux tankless water heater in my camper and the controller powers up, but I’m not sure about the first startup. Is there a certain order I should follow before trying to run hot water through it?

Good morning Carl! Yes, there is a good startup order to follow on the Dylux RV Tankless Water Heater # DY54FR, and I like that you’re asking before just flipping switches and hoping for the best.
Before firing it up, make sure the unit is connected to 12V DC power, with the black wire to +12V DC and the white wire to ground (-12V DC). The blue wires go to the wall controller. From there, confirm your LP gas, cold water inlet, hot water outlet, and controller connections are secure. You’ll also want to verify your gas pressure and water pressure are within the listed ranges and check all gas and water connections for leaks before use.
Once everything checks out, turn on the gas supply, turn on the appliance power switch, turn on the water supply, and make sure the exhaust vent is not clogged or blocked. Then open a hot water faucet so the unit can sense water flow and begin heating. Carl, are you replacing an older tank-style heater, or was this a fresh install in a new build?
