Recommended Sway Control for a Trailer w/a Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch

Updated 06/03/2026 | Published 05/26/2026

Question:

How is trailer sway with this hitch? Are there any anti-sway options or add-ons? 2025 Ember Overland 221MSL and a 2025 Silverado 2500 HD LTZ with Trailboss and ZR1 Options

Welcome back Bob and thanks for the information. Like a standard ball mount the Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch item # 336VS511 is not going to do anything to address trailer way. There are no weight distribution systems with built in sway control that work with it either.

If you're using the Lock N Roll Articulating Hitch item # 336VS511, then the only option I have to add sway control to your 2025 Ember Overland 221MSL is with the Tuson Trailer Sway Control System item # 335TSC-1000. This is an electronic sway control device that wires into your trailer's braking system. It works by detecting sway and alternating activating the left and right side brakes to prevent it or get it under control.

What kind of roads are you going to be taking your trailer on and are you interested in a standard weight distribution hitch? You can unhook the tension bars when you get off the pavement. You'll have the normal amount of range on the hitch ball.

In my opinion every camper should come standard with the Tuscan sway controller. It made a huge difference pulling my camper all over. Regardless you still have to make sure your trailer is loaded correctly. Nothin is going to fix an improperly loaded trailer.

I had a Tuson sway control system on my Lance 2075 and pulled it with a Ram 2500 Cummins. I can highly recommend the Tuson system.

Have been using the Tuson sway control on an LIV 2000lb. trailer, pulling with a Jeep JK 4 door Wrangler. So can not directly comment on the Lock'n'Roll hitch you have. I have a simple ball mount. The sway control is un-obtrusive in daily use, doing it's job monitoring the trailer's sway. It corrects by simply applying one or both trailer brakes as needed. I have found trailer sway a non-event. My last camper used a Blu Ox weight distribution hitch which has a noticeable direct connection to the tow vehichle. The Tuson does not have the same direct connection, but the trailer remains well behaved with passing Semis or other large air flow disturbances. The indicator light has told me it has triggered at times on rough roads, but was not disruptive to my pulling experience. I do feel having the Tuson sway control is a great way to go, and the elimination of excess bumper hitch weight is awesome!

I had a Tuson anti sway device installed on a 4800 lb. Travel trailer after a fishtailing incident. Since then I have never had a sway problem even in windy conditions and with semis on freeways. I will never pull a travel trailer without it. I have it paired with an Andersen weight distributing hitch.

I have this anti-sway setup with my overland trailer (4300 pounds) and a similar type hitch (McHitch) that fully articulates. I had it put on when I purchased trailer so can’t speak to how it handles without. However, I live in Colorado and frequently tow in the mountains and coming down passes it is rock solid. I put it on as I have seen too many trailers coming down the passes out of control.
