Question:
Hi I have a Chevy Colorado 2016, 4x4 3.7 liter truck. It does have the factory tow package. Do I need any additional wiring harnesses for this brake controller to fit my truck: C67PQ Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller w/ Plug-In Harness - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional

Hello Brenson ,
Thanks for writing in.
The Curt TriFlex NEXT Brake Controller # C67PQ will work on your 2016 Chevy Colorado, but it is not plug-and-play on that truck. The Colorado does not have a factory brake controller port under the dash, which is why there is not a custom wiring adapter available for it.
The # C67PQ comes with a universal pigtail harness, so you will need to hardwire the controller into the truck’s wiring for power, ground, brake output, and the stoplight switch signal. Since your truck has the factory tow package, some of the wiring may already be there to tap into, but the controller itself still has to be spliced in.
One thing you will need to check is whether the brake lights work with the ignition key in the tow position. If they do not, the brake controller will not see the correct brake signal and you will need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751472 to provide that connection.
Once installed, the TriFlex NEXT is a really solid controller and works great for dialing in smoother braking. What kind of trailer are you planning on towing with your Colorado?

It is a dual axel electric over hydraulic kokopelli trailer, with disc brakes. Right now it is used to launch a boat at the launch ramp a few hundred feet away. However I would like to be able to tow it short distances with the Colorado. Brake lights light up currently when I press on the brakes from my truck. Does that mean I do not need the road master stop light switch?
