I HAVE A 2026 RAM REBEL AND NEED A PLUG and PLAY TRAILER BRAKE UNIT, I DONT HAVE FACTORY BREAKCONTROLLER . CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT I NEED AND IF I NEED TO GET MY COMPUTER FLASHED OR NOT

Hello Mark,

Thanks for writing in, I have 2 options for you to choose from, depending on what kind of brakes you have on your trailer. Also, since your 2026 Ram Rebel has the factory 7-way trailer connector, you will not need to have the truck flashed or programmed for either brake controller option.

For standard electric trailer brakes, the Curt TriFlex NEXT # C87QV is the easiest plug-and-play setup since it includes the custom harness that plugs directly into the factory brake controller port under the dash with no splicing required.

If your trailer has Electric Over Hydraulic brakes, the better option is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. That controller does require a hardwired installation because Redarc does not currently offer a custom plug-in harness for the 2026 Ram 1500, but the truck still will not need to be flashed or programmed after installation.

Both setups will work properly with your Ram’s factory tow package wiring as-is. Once installed, you will just need to calibrate the controller and adjust the gain settings for your trailer.
