Does The Thetford C224CW Cassette Toilet TH29UE Come With Outside Panel For Installation?

Updated 05/08/2026 | Published 05/05/2026

Question:

We have an older class a motorhome that we are fixing up for route 66 this year and are looking to put a cassette toilet with the swivel head by thetford in it. It has the straight square walls. Does any of these come with the outside panel for installation? And if not how would I be able to get ahold of everything needed to seamlessly install one?

Hello Aric, thanks for reaching out. The Thetford C224CW Cassette Toilet # TH29UE does not come with the outside panel. What you’re getting in the box is basically just the toilet and the cassette system itself. To do it right, you’ll need to grab the Thetford Service Door 3 # TH43GA separately.

Good news is your older Class A with nice flat walls is actually perfect for this kind of install. The big thing is cutting that exterior hole clean and saving the piece you cut out. Most of us will reuse that cutout as the insert for the service door so it matches your rig and looks factory instead of some random white hatch slapped on the side. Add some butyl tape behind the flange, seal it up and it’ll be watertight and clean.

If you want it to come out slick, mock everything up first before you cut anything. Make sure you’ve got room to slide the cassette out, double check your wall thickness, and plan where that fill door is going to sit. Once you’ve got your measurements locked in, it’s a pretty straightforward job, just take your time on the cut and sealing and you’ll end up with something that looks like it came that way from the factory.

What kind of motorhome are you fixing up?

We are here in Missouri near St Louis so that route 66 trip will bring you right by us! Should be fun!

Thanks for the advice Jesse. The motorhome is a 1976 Champion M-922.

@AricH Nice! It's always cool to see those old motorhomes still out on the road. Good luck with your project! You know where to find me if you ever need anything else!
