Best Weight Distribution Hitch For 2025 Chevy Blazer Hauling Forest River R-Pod RP-190

Hello! Trying to find out what WDH I need. Tow vehicle is 2025 Chevy Blazer and trailer is Forest River R-Pod RP-190. Some say I need one, others say I don't. Thanks, Bob

Hey Bob, thanks for reaching out. Yes, I do think that setup will benefit from a weight distribution hitch. The camper isn't super heavy, but the Blazer could undoubtedly use some help handling it and a WD hitch will really help level things out. That will in turn improve stability and braking and make those trips a lot more comfortable. For your Forest River R-Pod RP-190 I recommend the following:

This is a good solid cost effective WD hitch that helps with sway control and weight distribution. It's rated for campers with tongue weight between 500 and 800 lbs so your R-Pod will be right in that sweet spot to where you'll see noticeable results. It'll make the biggest difference on those highway stretches or areas with strong crosswinds or uneven roads.
The main thing you will want to check is the space on the trailer tongue. The spring bar brackets must be placed about 31" back from the center of the hitch ball. You'll want to measure out your tongue and make sure there are no obstructions in this area like gas tanks or batteries. As long as you have room for the brackets, you will be good to go.

I just purchased a distribution hitch for my Grand Cherokee / Rpod 179 combination...it made a big difference. Feels a lot more controlled and safer for highway driving. I highly recommend it.
