Updated 04/08/2026 | Published 04/01/2026

Question:

I am interested in the Weigh Safe True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch - 2.5 Shank - 8 - 18.5K GTW, 1.8K TW but not sure what size rise in my case i need. My hitch height is 20.5 and my camper coupler height is 27.75. Please advise on recommended height. Thank you.

Hi Phillip!

The Weigh Safe True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch - 2.5" Shank - 8" Drop - 18.5K GTW, 1.8K TW # WS37RR looks like it will be perfect for you!

The shank on this can be turned over to the rise position and it will offer up to 8.5" of rise when you do that (see included image). You really only need 7", so you will not need a different shank or anything to get this working for you properly. Which is definitely nice.

I will say that 27.75" for the coupler height is pretty tall. Is this an off road trailer by chance? If not, what kind of trailer is it?

It is an Outdoors RV 250RDS. Coupler height was measured after auto-leveling

@PhillipW Gotcha. Those do sit quite a bit higher than other travel trailers. Have fun out there and let me know if there is anything else I can help with! ^___^

This is a great hitch. I have a 2025 Forest River Super Lite and an F350 6.7 Diesel. Lazer is right, the hitch can be set in RISE position. My recommendation is to use trailer manufacture specifications for tongue heigh and contact Weigh Safe directly, as i did before i bought it, and be sure it will work for your setup.
