When a microwave pushes a limited hookup too far, this unit adds battery power through PowerAssist to keep loads running. Built around a 12V system with a 120 amp charger, it keeps appliances on and batteries recovering between cycles.

Highlights

  • Run High-Draw Loads on Limited Power: PowerAssist boosts a 50 amp input with battery support to handle spikes.
  • Keep Sensitive Loads Running Without Interruptions: Under 20 ms transfer maintains power to electronics.
  • Handle Real Appliance Startup Surges: 2,400 watt continuous with 5,500 watt peak supports microwave startup loads.
  • Recharge Batteries Quickly Between Use Cycles: Built-in charger delivers up to 120 amps for faster recovery.
  • Prioritize Critical Circuits During Outages: Dual AC outputs maintain power to selected loads without breaks.
  • Integrate Into Larger Energy Systems: Supports parallel, split-phase, and 3-phase configurations for expansion.

Features to know about

Push Past Shore Power Limits Without Tripping Breakers

victron multiplus II

When a microwave or coffee maker pushes a 30 amp hookup or small generator too hard, this unit steps in with PowerControl and PowerAssist to prevent generator or grid overload and boost AC power during peak demand using battery energy. It pairs that load support with a 50 amp AC input and 2,400 watts of continuous output power at 77ºF with 5,500 watts of peak power. In real use, that gives you more room to run real household loads when incoming AC power is the bottleneck.

Keep Refrigerators and Electronics Running Through Power Dropouts

Short power interruptions can reset a residential refrigerator or knock sensitive electronics offline right when shore power or generator input drops. This inverter switches to inverter operation in under 20 milliseconds with UPS functionality, and its dual AC output includes no-break functionality that maintains power to connected loads during grid or generator outages. The practical payoff is that selected loads stay powered through the switchover instead of going dark during the handoff.

Build Around Critical Loads Instead of Powering Everything the Same Way

One common setup problem is keeping essential circuits live while avoiding unnecessary battery drain on non-critical loads. This unit uses two AC outputs, including an auxiliary output rated at 32 amps each leg, so power can be routed with more control than a single-output inverter charger. In a real installation, that gives you a cleaner way to keep priority circuits online while separating loads that don't need the same uninterrupted power path.

Recharge Hard-Working Battery Banks Faster

High-draw off-grid use can drain a battery bank quickly, and slow charging stretches out recovery time between runs. The built-in charger is rated for up to 120 amps, with charging specs listed at 14.4 VDC absorption, 13.8 VDC float, and 13.2 VDC storage mode voltage. That gives the charger the output and charge-stage detail to recover the battery bank faster after running heavier AC loads.

Scale Beyond a Basic Standalone Inverter Setup

Some inverter chargers top out as a one-box solution, which becomes a limitation once the system grows or power demands change. This unit supports parallel, split-phase, and 3-phase operation, and it also supports ESS plus remote monitoring and control when paired with a GX device (sold separately) through the VRM portal. That gives you a platform that can start as a single 12V inverter charger and expand into a larger monitored power system without replacing the core unit.

Video Transcript for Review of Victron RV Power Inverter - Inverter MultiPlus II Inverter Charger AC Outputs - VN73VR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Victron MultiPlus-II Inverter Charger with AC output. Now, this MultiPlus-II Inverter Charger does three big jobs all in this one box. First, this is an inverter, so this is going to take power from a 12 volt battery bank and it's gonna turn it into 120 volt household AC power. So you're gonna be able to run normal appliances, tools, or electronics, and it's a pure sine wave inverter, which means it's gonna be safe for your sensitive electronics, like your laptops, TVs, and modern appliances.

It's also a battery charger, so when you're plugged into sure power or running a generator, this is going to automatically switch roles and become a high capacity battery charger, up to 120 amps. So that's going to efficiently recharge your batteries. This is also an automatic transfer switch. This is going to seamlessly switch between external AC power and battery power. So if your sure power drops out, this is going to switch to battery almost instantly.

Most people won't even notice. That's gonna make this a great UPS style backup. In terms of size and capability, this is rated at 3000 VA, about 2,400 watts continuous, which is enough to run things like microwaves, power tools, air compressors for short bursts and multiple household loads. This has a 50-amp transfer switch, so this can handle fairly beefy AC inputs. This is designed for 120 volt North American systems and it is UL listed which matters for safety inspections and insurance.

One of the standout features is the power assist. So if you're plugged into a weak power source, say like a small generator or limited sure power, this unit can supplement that power with energy from your battery so you don't trip breakers or overload the source. That's gonna be a huge win for RVs and off-grid setups. And because it's part of Victron's ecosystem, this is gonna play real nicely with solar charge controllers, energy storage systems, and remote monitoring and configuration through Victrons apps and accessories. Lemme go ahead and give you some measurements.

Hopefully you can see that on the screen there. Looking at what I'm calling the overall height, because when you have it mounted, it's gonna be bottom to top here, of course. Looks like we're sitting pretty close to about 22 and about 22 and three quarters inches tall. And the overall width, right at about almost 11 inches, hopefully you can see that. I'm gonna call it at about 10 and seven eighths inches wide. And then lemme go back to my closeup view here, trying to show you the depth. About five and 13 16ths inches deep. You are going to get a few things here. You're gonna get the mounting bracket and some hardware and a sensor wire. So this is gonna be ideal for you if you want a reliable, professional grade inverter or charger for your RV, your boat, your off grid cabin or backup power system, and you want everything to work automatically without having to babysit it. It may not be the most inexpensive option out there, but Victron is known for its build quality, its reliability, its smart power management, and this is really gonna be a great example of all the great things that Victron has to offer from their brand. If you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this unit or anything else that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out. We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
