Question:
Hello, I have a 2013 Lexus RX350 3.5l V6 w/tow package and rated at 3500lbs tow capacity. I am buying a NuCamp TAB 360 17’ x 7’ Tear Trailer with a Dry weight: 2600 lbs, Tongue weight of 359lbs, GAWR 3900lbs. I am looking at two different weight distribution hitches w/sway control. 1 Blue Ox 550 2 Fastway E2 FA92-00-0800 but w/ 600lb Triunion bars Fa92-02-0699. I know the E2 might be overkill and I’ve heard about the E2 noise complaints, but understand that can be mitigated with proper grease and nylon s for the sway control. I like the Blue Ox because its quieter according to the forums, but you have to use the trailer tongue jack to raise and lower as necessary for hooking up the sway bars, I understand that I am pushing the limit of my Lexus RX350… please advise and thank you in advance for your time.

Hey Wes, based on what you mentioned preferring the winner for you is the Blue Ox SwayPro part # BXW0550 that you mentioned. It will be quieter like you like and the fact you have to use a jack to install the spring bars shouldn't count against it because basically all WD systems require this step including the Fastway. It makes life a ton easier to use the jack and isn't overly difficult at all. Especially if you have an electric jack that does all the lifting for you. Do you have a decent jack on your trailer?

Hey Jameson, thank you for your quick reply. Interesting about the WD Systems (newbie here). Of coarse the Fastway marketing video didn’t reveal you had to use a jack. Anyway, I use the manual trailer jack, it’s easy, just time consuming. Anyway, when installing the Blue Ox, I may have to buy their Signature series in addition to the 550, to allow for more mounting options. Blue Ox needs 29” distance to install the clamps and the propane tank compartment is 28” from the center of the ball. At least that’s what I’m reading. Also, I may have to get creative and remove the tank compartment for the install and use some composite material for a spacer. So, we will see. Please advise on any other suggestions/recommendations. Thank you in advance, Wes
