Upgraded Roof Vent W/ Pivotable Fan On 2021 No Boundaries Travel Trailer W/ 100ah Lithium Batteries

Question:

We boondock in our 2021 No Boundaries 19.8 and rely on two 100Ah lithium batteries and 200 watts of solar. I’m looking at the MA36WV with the smoke lid. Is 400 CFM enough to cool things down at night without killing my batteries?

Hello Alicia, with two 100Ah lithium batteries, you’re in good shape for this roof vent with fan # MA36WV .

It draws only about 2.5 amps, so running it overnight on lower speeds is very reasonable for your setup. The 400 CFM rating is strong for a trailer your size, and being able to pivot the fan toward the bed makes it feel more effective than a fixed ceiling fan that just pulls or pushes air in and out.

Do you run anything else overnight? If so, then that is where you will need to start adding up all the electrical draws to see if you're going to run into trouble. But this fan alone will be fine all night, probably more like 2 nights on a single charge.

That helps a lot. We do run a 12V fridge and sometimes a small fan overnight. I’m planning to install it myself - anything special I should plan for?

@Alicia Alicia, with that setup you’re still in good shape - especially since you have solar input during the day. For install, the biggest thing is sealing it correctly. I strongly recommend picking up the Roof Vent Installation Kit # 344270KITW so you’ve got fresh butyl tape and self-leveling sealant ready to go. Other than that, it’s a standard 14" x 14" swap. Just confirm your roof thickness is within the normal range and trim the interior garnish if needed. Are you planning to add a vent cover too so you can leave it open in changing weather, or keeping it simple for now?
