Are Special Tips Needed for Installing B and W Turnoverball Ford F-250 With bed Removed

Updated 02/23/2026 | Published 02/20/2026

Question:

I have a Ford F250 2002 Superduty short bed 4x4 I will be removing the bed, welding in some new cross supports, and removing an older style gooseneck ball hitch not BW. I would like to install the BW Turnover ball while the bed is off. I have installed these before, but not with the bed off. Is there any tips or ideas of problems I may run into on this?? Thanks PS Sara in sales is very good, knowledgeable, and professional.

Hey Russ, thanks for the kind words about Sara! You won't need any special tips for installing the B and W Gooseneck hitch part # BWGNRK1108 on your 2002 Ford F-250 with the bed off. It will actually be a lot easier this way since you'll have unlimited access to the truck frame so this will be a piece of cake. What happened to the frame supports that you are fixing?

The cross channel pieces, like the ones in the picture, are mostly rusted through. Overall the bed looks good. Once I remove the old gooseneck hitch, It will need new metal to cut a nice 4" hole the BW also.
