Troubleshooting Redarc Tow-Pro Elite That Will Not Come Out Of Sleep Mode

Question:

Have installed redarc and it will not come out of sleep mode. I have checked voltage on both brake signal and power and get proper voltage going to the redarc but it will not detect brakes.

Hey Devon, thanks for reaching out. If the Tow Pro Elite # RED55CR is staying in sleep mode, it usually means it is not seeing one of the signals it needs. Even if you have power on the black wire and voltage on the red brake signal wire, it still needs a solid ground on the white wire and it needs to detect a trailer through the blue brake output wire. A weak ground or an issue in the blue wire circuit back to the 7 way is one of the most common causes.

I would double check that the white wire is grounded to clean bare metal or directly to battery negative, and make sure the trailer is plugged in with working brake magnets. Also take a quick look at the 7 way for corrosion or loose pins.
