Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 6,300 lbs Travel Trailer

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 01/29/2026

Question:

I am purchasing a new TT and am trying to figure out what spring bars to get for my WDH. I am purchasing a 2026 R Pod 206. Dry weight is 4600 and GVWR is 6300. Dry tongue weight is 490 pounds. I am looking at the Husky Centerline TS and am curious what bars you would recommend. I am tossed between the 400-600 tongue weight or the 600-800 tongue weight. Using 10 of total weight it would seem the 400-600 would be sufficient, but using 15 puts it closer to 950 pounds. I dont want to go too high to prevent too rough a ride. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Ryan, congrats on your new trailer! We don't carry Husky anything, but I am going to make a recommendation on a better weight distribution system for you.

Since your R Pod has a 6,300 lbs GVWR that's going to put your tongue weight within a 630 lbs - 945 lbs range. I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37100ET. This system has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs so it's going to be perfect. This range will allow you some adjustment with how you load up your trailer and account for anything in the back of your tow vehicle that adds to the tongue weight. You won't feel a stiff uncomfortable ride if you're on the lower end of the range.

The Equal-i-zer item # EQ37100ET comes with a 2" shank and 2-5/16" hitch ball. The built in sway control will keep your R Pod in line with your tow vehicle when you get passed by a semi, encounter a gust of wind, or make a sudden lane change.

What tow vehicle are you using to pull your new trailer?

Jerred, Thank you for the reply. I am curious why you think the Equal-i-zer is considered a "better" hitch? The Centerline TS also provides 4 points of sway control. The reason I picked that one is because I have used one before and was pretty happy with the results. I get that some consider the Equal-i-zer to be the gold star standard, but the Centerline is up there as well. For several hundred dollars less and the very minimal difference, I would probably stay with the Husky. Would you mind maybe providing any recommendations on my initial question? I know you may not sell the Husky, but there are several different brands you carry with similar bar set ups.

@RyanK You're welcome! The Equal-i-zer item # EQ37100ET uses stronger steel. The bars and head connection are designed different which provides better sway control. The Husky Centerline TS has to be setup on perfectly level ground.
