Question:
Hello. I am inquiring about finding a product to help with towing my 21ft pontoon over long distances. I encounter some towing sway mainly from a passing semis. It’s quite nerve racking when it pulls my 2021 expedition max to the side with the vacuum or wind from them passing. Would like a product to make towing feel more stable. Would a weight distribution hitch be effective in a single pole tong trailer? The boat and trailer with gear only weighs 3500lbs. It’s not weight I’m combating but the wind drag. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hey Derek, welcome back! A weight distribution hitch would be effective on your trailer, and also the best solution for that sway. Do you know your loaded tongue weight? That is the best way to figure out which system will work for your setup.
Based on your 3,500 lb measurement the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0450 would probably work. This is designed for up to 450 lbs of tongue weight. You will also need the Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems # EQ95-01-5950 to mount it on your trailer. Since it does not come with a hitch ball you can use # 40038 for a 2" or # C40007 for a 2-5/16" ball.
What trips are you planning with the pontoon this season?

I pull a 24ft Bennington tri-hull pontoon with loaded tongue weight of 3,045 lb and a Rockwood tent trailer with a loaded tongue weight of 2,950 lb behind my 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-road V6. Between the weight distribution and the sway control bars, I experience no sway issues. The Bennington is on a trailer with full size tires, so it sets up pretty high.

Do the spring bars need to be at an angle? Could I just install the bracket’s to the trailer tube? This would eliminate the bracket but would it loose the anti sway properties?
