Question:

My hinge froze due to the weather and snapped apart when I prayed the lid open. Do sell or know of another who sells replacement hinges for the sports rack rooftop carrier?

Hey, David!

Are you referring to a roof cargo box like part # IN32AV? SportRack has had a lot of different boxes over the years and the hinges have also changed. For example Replacement Hinge for SportRack SkyLine XL Cargo Box part # SR03396 is very different from the Replacement Spring Hinge for SportRack Explorer or SkyLine Cargo Box part # SR03810.

If you can't ID the model of the box you can reply to the email with some pictures of the box along with the hinges that got damaged.

Hey David, what ended up happening with the hinge on your SportRack cargo box? Were you able to match it to one of the replacement hinge options mentioned? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue.

@GwendolynY No I have not yet. Still looking but in this cold weather I haven't used the sport rack. I'll start researching again real soon.

Hi Gwen, No, the product i have is the SportRack Horizon L 16 cu/ft car top cargo box. The hinges are rather large but have a plastic element to them. They were frozen in this extreme northeast weather, and when I kind of pried open the box, the hinge snapped. SportRack shows the item in their parts diagram, but they do not list it for ordering. I would send the screenshot if I could. Can you assist? Respectfully, Dave Flood It's getting so much nicer outside now, that I'm looking to get prepared for the season.

@DavidF Got some good news! My contact over at Sports Rack let me know that you can actually use part # TH14933 as a replacement hinge for your cargo box. I also confirmed with them that you would not have to do any sort of modification to install it. It would install and fit just like the original.
