Bolts Not Fitting Replacement Shackle Strap
Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 01/18/2026 >
Question:
I tried putting the bolts in the holes and they dont quite fit. Wondering if I remove some of the galvanizing in the holes with a wire brush if this will damage the shackle link?

Hi Stephen; if it is really close and seems like the finish is all that is keeping it from going through that would be fine to get the bolts to fit. The # 18-11GALV are designed for 9/16" bolts so make sure that is what you have.
What kind of trailer do you have?

Hey Stephen, how did things go after checking the bolt size and cleaning up the holes on the galvanized shackle strap? Your update could make it easier for the next person working with the same parts.
