A trailer’s ride depends on how well its leaf springs can move. This galvanized shackle strap connects the double-eye leaf spring to the rear hanger or equalizer so the suspension pivots the way it should. That movement helps spread weight evenly across the axles and keeps the ride smooth and steady.
Trailers see water, salt, and road grime that can chew through unprotected steel. This strap’s zinc-plated, galvanized steel construction resists rust and corrosion so it stays strong over time. It’s especially handy for trailers that spend time near water or in harsh weather.
Getting suspension parts to line up right makes all the difference. This link measures 2-1/4" from hole center to hole center, with a total length of 3-1/2", width of 1-1/4", and 9/16" bolt holes. The proper spacing ensures solid geometry between the leaf springs, hanger, and equalizer so the system works as designed.
When worn shackles throw your suspension off, replacing them with this single heavy-duty strap gets things back in shape fast. It’s built for the job—strong metal, correct size, corrosion resistance—and ready to go when you are.

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at a two and one quarter inch long shackle strap. Now this shackle strap connects a double wide leaf spring to a rear hanger for single axle trailers or to an equalizer for multi axle trailers. It allows necessary pivot of the springs for an evenly distributed load between axles and a smooth ride for the trailer. We're looking at a galvanized steel construction. It's a nice heavy duty design and corrosion resistant. This is ideal for use on boat and snowmobile trailers.
One shackle strap is included with this part number. Taking a measurement real quick of the length. Again I measured from center on center of the mouth hole, that's where we get the two and one quarter inch long measurement from. Edge to edge it measures about three and a half inches long. Overall width is an inch and a quarter and the bolt holes have a diameter of nine 16ths of an inch.
That's gonna do it for today's look at the two and one quarter inch long shackle strap.
