Does EcoHitch EH36SR Fit 2026 Tesla Model S Plaid

Updated 01/18/2026 | Published 01/14/2026

Question:

Will EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Fit a 2026 Tesla Model S Plaid? Im looking for a trailer hitch for my 2026 Model S Plaid and your product page lists this hitch as compatible. Do you already have any experience with installing it or having other customers install it on their cars? From what I understand unfortunately Tesla changed a lot with the 2026 Plaid so there is no access port in the bumper anymore and I want to make sure that this will work out in the end. I would appreciate any feedback and am looking forward to your response.

Hey Fabian, I checked with EcoHitch just now and they verified that their hitch part # EH36SR that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2026 Tesla Model S Plaid model. While we haven't the chance to install this on a 26' model yet I can guarantee it will fit as EcoHitch does not mess around with their fits. They for sure test fit and verified it.

Hi, that is the same model that I used on my 2024 S Plaid and when I installed mine, I could only find it was previously installed on earlier year model Teslas. Unless there was a change to the body you should be good. The hitch is top quality and works well.

I installed one this summer (a shop did it for me, actually) on my new 2026 Model S Plaid. It works great. I was surprised by the install cost, cheaper than i estimated for sure. Came to $275 only. Was a Tesla-certified body shop in Cambridge Md. After watching a video, I wanted a shop that was 100% familiar w taking the rear bumper housing off teslas and where it attaches in wheelwells to make sure done correctly w/ no learning curve. They said 'piece of cake'. There actually IS an opening in the rear bumper for the hitch to be visible and usable for towing (or in my case a bike rack). The opening is UNDERNEATH the bumper section, get down on your knees to see it. Is a big plastic/vinyl door. To remove, you turn two large plastic screws a quarter-turn, then pop off all other pressure fit attachment points. The Eco-hitch has two parts to it, if you drop off the actual hitch 'extension part' when not using it, you can put the plastic/vinyl door back on for weather roadspray protection. The removable hitch 'extension' is held on by a HUGE bolt (with large lockwasher). I bought a 24" piece of steel piping from plumbing section at Lowes to use as an extension on my socket wrench handle cuz the bolt is put on super tight assuming installer follows directions from EcoHitch, something like 120 ft lbs on a torgue wrench. I don't use torque wrench, just put it super tight. have removed it 2 or 3 times when bike rack not to be used for extended period. Easy 5 minute operation at most.
