Does PowerMax 12v Converter 60A PM44VR Run 12V Lights And Pump Or Just Charge Batteries?
Published 01/07/2026 >
Question:
Will the PowerMax PM44VR 60 amp converter run my 12V lights and pump while plugged in, or does it only charge the battery?

Mark, the PowerMax # PM44VR 60 amp does both. When you’re plugged into shore power or running a generator, it supplies 12V power directly to your DC distribution panel for lights, water pump, fans, and other loads, while also charging the battery(s).
When shore power is removed, the converter shuts off and the battery automatically takes over powering the DC system. Just make sure the converter is connected to a fused DC distribution panel - it’s a converter-only unit, not a power center. Some RVs are setup with a power center that has a converter section built-in which is different from this setup.
What kind of RV or trailer is this going into?
