Question:
How long does the battery realistically last on these?

Expert Reply:
Chris, battery life is measured by pings rather than calendar time. The # PM84FR delivers 3,000 pings, while the # PM64FR and # PM74FR deliver 5,000 pings. At 2 pings per day, the 5000 models can last around 12 years while the 3000 model can last around 7 years at 2 pings per day.
You can adjust ping frequency anytime in the app, so you control the balance between detail and battery life. No matter which ping rating you go with, I'd spend the extra few bucks for the wifi compatible model. While it won't actually connect to wifi, it will use it to ping and get better signal compared to just cell towers.
