Question:
A couple years ago I bought some Timbren ASR35HDS axles from etrailer. At the time I didn’t need brakes but now I do. I bought some brakes for a 3500lb axle, but the don’t fit because they’re 4 bolt, and I need 5 bolt. What brake assemblies do I need for my axles? My wheels are 6x5.5. I don’t want junk, but I also don’t want to break the bank. Thanks.

Hi Jason!
The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Heavy Duty - Long Spindle - 4" Lift - 5 Bolt - 3.5K # ASR35HDS02 you got is rated as a 3,500 pound "axle", but it actually uses heavier duty spindles that would be found on a 5,200 to 7,000 pound axle. This is why it has the 5 bolt mounting pattern. So with that said, you will want the following parts:
etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub/Drum Assembly - 5.2K & 6K Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K
etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left/Right Hand - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA
Just keep in mind the hub/drum is sold individually, so you will need to order two of them. The brakes are sold as a pair (right and left) so you will only need to order one. Also, the brakes are self adjusting as I think they are easier to live with, but we do have manually adjusting ones with the # AKEBRK-6 (same weight capacity and quantity).
All these options are our own brand, but they are very comparable to the Dexter options. The only major difference is ours are made over seas and the Dexter ones are American made. If you prefer that, just let me know and I can get you part numbers for that as well.
Out of curiosity, what did you install the Timbren system on?

Hey Jason, how did things go after adding the 12-inch self-adjusting brakes and hub/drum assemblies to your Timbren axle setup? Did everything fit the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others upgrading their axle-less suspension for brakes later on.
