Which SumoSprings for 2023 Ram ProMaster 1500 Camper Van

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 01/01/2026

Question:

I have a 2023 Ram Promaster 1500 that is converted to an RV by Dave and Matt Vans. I don’t tow with it or carry super heavy loads, other than the conversion stuff. I’m primarily wanting to improve the body sway on the highway and in the wind. What Sumo Springs do you recommend, the black 1000lbs, blue 1500lbs, or yellow 2800lbs?

Hey Chris! Even without towing or hauling heavy loads you're going to have a lot of extra weight from that conversion. The best option is going to be the higher rated SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-313-54.

The support from their 2,800 lb capacity definitely won't be overkill for your application. They will do a better job preventing and correcting sway out on the highway and in high winds, while also smoothing out your ride.

Any big trips coming up?

Hey Chris, how did the ride feel after adding the higher-rated SumoSprings to your Promaster? Your experience could help others looking to cut down on sway in windy conditions.

@RobinH Thank you for your response. If my Promaster RV/Van only has a minilist build with a mattress and batteries in the rear (no water tanks) and a small fridge up front, does that change which Sumo Spring you would recommend?

@ChrisR no, I would still stick with the higher capacity # SSR-313-54. It still won't be too much and will be an even better option if you add to your van in the future.
