Question:
I mainly tie down furniture and appliances for my moving side gig. Nothing super heavy, but the load shifts a lot. Would the S-hook straps hold better than the J-hooks in a box trailer?

Expert Reply:
Rachel, for a box trailer with smaller interior tie-down points, the S-hook kit # e92NR is usually the easiest to work with. The vinyl-coated S-hooks have little keepers on them, so once they’re clipped in, they stay put even if the load wiggles around.
The double-J kit # e42SV is stronger, but J-hooks really want a solid D-ring or welded loop to sit in - they’re not as friendly with small tie-down holes. With furniture and appliances, the 700-lb working load on the # e92NR set is more than enough.
Do you mostly strap to floor rings or the wall tracks in your trailer, Rachel?
