Updated 06/26/2014 | Published 06/24/2014

Question:

Hi. Looking at the Maxxtowmt70355 and the Brophyht5r 1.25-2.0 hitch adaptor with rise. Do u have a similar product that has a longer adapter preferably 5 inch or greater from the pinhole to clear the bumper of my car.

Sounds like the distance from your hitch pin hole to the back of the rear bumper is 5 or more inches.

The 1-1/4" to 2" adapters with a rise such as # HT5R, which you reference, would end up making contact with the bumper. I recommend going with a straight adapter, like # HTAD, which measures 7-1/4" from pin hole to pin hole. This adapter is not to be used for towing and will fit only Class II hitches. I have included links to a helpful article on How to Choose a Bike Rack That Will Clear a Spare Tire or Rear Bumper as well as a video review of part # HTAD.

Please note that any hitch adapter/extender will reduce your hitch's capacity by 50-percent. This means a 200-lbs-rated hitch can actually handle only 100-lbs if used with this or any other adapter.

You will need a pin and clip with this adapter. For a 2" receiver you will need part # PC3. For a 1-1/4" receiver you will need part # PC2.
