Grill Guard for my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Updated 11/24/2025 | Published 11/22/2025

Question:

Just wondering if this is mounting brackets for a grille guard. I have a 2004 Silverado and accidentally purchased a 99-02 Silverado brush guard so the front pieces don’t fit because of the difference in bumper sizes. In the pictures the bracket that replaces the tow hook is set too far in so the piece of the brush guard can’t sit to where all 3 bolts can be placed because of the bumper. So I’m curious since there’s no pictures of the part if it’s the same format but the piece of metal is extended so the bolts can line up without hitting the bumper.

Hey, Kamalei.

Thanks for sending those pictures! After comparing the brush guards for a ’99–’02 Silverado and a 2004 Silverado, it looks like swapping brackets won’t work. The brush guard itself is designed differently between those model years, so even with new brackets, you wouldn’t have enough clearance around the bumper.

I’ve included pictures showing the side profiles of both guards, you can see that the 2004 model’s brackets are longer, which gives the extra clearance you need.

I know that’s probably not the answer you were hoping for, but the only way to get the right fit is to go with the correct brush guard and brackets, which is part #AA4059.

Thanks for getting back to me. There isn’t any other type of bracket that’s 2/3 inches longer that can have the guard be pushed out a bit to clear the bumper?

@KamaleiB There is not a bracket that we could suggest or recommend that would push the grill guard further away from your bumper. You may be able to find a local fabricator that would be willing to make a bracket for you.
