Is It Possible To Use Smaller Hardware When Installing The Hitch So I Do Not Need To Drill?

Question:
I’m looking at the Curt C98CR hitch for my 2025 GMC Terrain. Is it possible to use smaller bolts so that the frame access hole doesn’t need to be ground out, breaking the finish, leading to rust, etc.?

Hey Steven,
It is always said to use the manufacturer specific hardware for proper install on the # C98CR. There are not smaller bolts for this hitch and your vehicle so I do not recommend doing so. Now the enlarging of the factory holes for the hardware may need to be done. Some models and some trims will not need it and some will. That is the case with any hitch for that vehicle so if your specific vehicle needs it, that is a step that will need to be done.
I have attached a video of the install on that vehicle so you can get a better idea of what that will look like when installing. What are you looking to use the hitch for.
