Can I Use Smaller Bolts When Installing Curt C98CR Hitch On 2025 GMC Terrain?

Question:
I’m looking at the Curt C98CR hitch for my 2025 GMC Terrain. Is it possible to use smaller bolts so that the frame access hole doesn’t need to be ground out, breaking the finish, leading to rust, etc.?

Hello Steven, thanks for reaching out. The Curt # C98CR will fit your 2025 GMC Terrain as long as it isn't the Diesel model. You cannot use smaller bolts to install the hitch. You will absolutely need to use the hardware included with the hitch which will likely involve some enlarging of the access holes. There is no workaround for this I'm afraid. Using different hardware would void your warranty and may create an unsafe towing setup. The hitches are tested and rated using specific bolts.
