When Installing Curt Echo Does Blue Wire Need to be Ran

Question:

My vechel, 1988 Trooper, does not have a 7 way connector. if i want to install a 7 pin connector and use 51181 Echo controler, does the blue wire on the 7 pin connector have to be connected

Hey Tom, no the blue wire on a 7-way installed on a vehicle would not need to be ran anywhere for the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 to function. This controller creates this circuit on the trailer side which is why. Do you have a 4-way on the Trooper or any trailer wiring currently?

No other wiring on the trooper. Planning a combo 4 and 7

@TomW Gotcha, so in that case you would need to start with the 4-way kit part # C56175 and then convert it to a 7-way. For that we have the # ETBC7L which actually was put together specifically for use with the # C51180 and comes with exactly what you would need to wire it in and have an active 7-way and 4-way.
