Will I Need To Enlarge Holes On Frame When Installing Trailer Hitch On 2024 Subaru Outback?

Question:

2024 OUTBACK, DRAWTITE DT73RR and BLUE OX BLU92UR HITCHES. WHY DOES THE BLUE OX REQUIRE THE FORWARD HOLE TO BE ENLARGED AND THE DRAWTITE DOES NOT ? REGARDS

Hello Mark, thanks for reaching out. Both the hitches you mentioned, the Draw-Tite # DT73RR and the Blue Ox # BLU92UR are a confirmed fit for the 2024 Subaru Outback. Both hitches also use the same size spacer and may require enlargement of the access holes. The spacers are 0.88" wide so you can always compare this to the holes on your frame to see if you will need to enlarge them or not.

thank you for the reply. so you say both hitches require enlargement of the access holes where it is mentioned in the install video of the Blue Ox it is not mentioned in the Drawtite install video. when a hitch is installed it will carry a bike rack. Regards

@MarkB So the actual size of the access holes can have some variance, so the chances of you having to enlarge the holes would be the same regardless of what hitch you choose. You might not have to, it just depends on the hole size. I have heard that it can make the install easier if you just go ahead and enlarge the holes anyway.
