Can I Gain Cab Clearance By Changing the Pivot Arm Offset on BWRVK3300

Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/23/2025

Question:

I have a 2021 Ford F350, 6-3/4 bed with factory puck system. Looking at the RVK3300 Ive seen an offset mentioned by mounting the pivot arms in different positions. Ive read conflicting statements that the 1inch offset is in front of the axle and the 1inch offset is rear of the axle but the 3inch offset is in front of the axle, which is correct? My second question is if the base is turned around wouldnt that create a 1inch or 3inch offset to the rear of the axle? The base appears to be symmetrical so I would think it should fit either way. Thank you

On the B&W Companion RVK3300, both pivot arm positions actually place the king pin in front of the rear axle, about 1 inch or 3 inches forward, depending on which holes you use. That design is intentional B&W keeps the pivot point forward of the axle to improve weight balance and stability while towing.

The base can look symmetrical, but it’s only meant to face one direction flipping it around won’t safely move the king pin rearward. The pivot arms would end up angled the wrong way, so the head wouldn’t line up properly with the trailer’s king pin.

If your main goal is to gain cab-to-trailer clearance, then a slider hitch is really what you need. Something like the B&W Companion Slider (part # RVK3370) lets you slide the hitch rearward so you’ll have the extra room you’re looking for when making tight turns without worrying about the trailer corner coming too close to the cab.

Hey, how did things turn out with the B&W Companion on your F350 after learning about the pivot arm offsets? Your experience could help others trying to figure out the same setup and clearance concerns.
