Can Old Advent Air AC Replace Dometic on 5th Wheel

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 09/21/2025

Question:

A couple of years ago I bought the acm150 ac for my travel trailer. I now have a 5th wheel with a dometic dual therm ac that needs replaced. Can I use the acm150 if I buy a new distribution panel. If so which one?

Hi Scott; are you trying to use the same Avent Air AC you bought 3 years ago as the replacement? If the Dometic is dead it is worth a shot but you will have to use the existing air distribution box (ADB) and thermostat.

The ADB for the old R410A Advent units is no longer available since everything switched to R32 refrigerant following the 2025 EPA guidelines. We also stopped recommending the old units as a replacement without a complete setup due to compatibility issues. However, there are people who have successfully used it as a plug and play for a Dometic setup.

If you need a new AC it will have to be a complete replacement. Sticking with Advent Air you can choose from the following:

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV32SR

Hey Scott, how did things go with replacing the Dometic unit on your 5th wheel? Did you end up going with one of the new Advent Air systems that use R32 refrigerant? Your update could make it easier for others facing the same swap.

@RobinH I ended up buying the Chill Cube. I love it.

@ScottT great choice! The Chill Cube # FR39TD is definitely the best option out there right now.
