Updated 10/23/2025 | Published 09/16/2025

Question:

my Parker wagon model 605 I think, needs shocks for the brakes on the tongue. They are Gabriel with numbers T40929SA and 610712 on them. Do you have a replacement for them?

Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. The Replacement Shock for Dexter Model 6 and 10 Brake Actuators # T1242600 may work for you, but we do not carry the Gabriel brand, so the information available to me about their parts is limited. Basically, the # T1242600 will work as a replacement for a shock with the following dimensions:

Extended length: 8-1/16"
Collapsed length: 6"
Inner diameter of mounting rings: 0.63" and 0.90"
Outer diameter of body: 1.63"

Hey Mike, did the replacement shock for the Dexter brake actuator end up fitting your Parker wagon? Knowing how the dimensions matched up could help others trying to replace their Gabriel shocks.

I didn't do anything yet on shocks. Etrailer had earlier said that your shock was not rated for the 45,000 lb wagon I would be using it on. I'm not sure that it would make a difference on the weight of the trailer because compressed is compressed. No shock is designed to withstand 45,000 lbs dead ending it. There are other heavy steel parts taking the brunt of that. The shock is only activating the brake. What say you? Mike M.

@MikeM I have heard of people using our shocks for this kind of stuff. Like for farm equipment that is rated way higher than the shock itself is rated for. I agree the shock is not bearing the full 45K weight, but with equipment that heavy, there may be more force on the shock than it is intended for. As long as the dimensions match, it can work fine, but you may find it doesn't dampen quite as well or doesn't last as long as it should.
