What Hitch do I Need for My 2018 Honda CR-V that does Not Require Fascia Trimming?

Question:

Hello, I am looking through videos and installs and am wondering if there are any hitches that do not require trimming of the fascia for a 2026 Honda CRV Sport Touring Hybrid with the hands free liftgate sensor? If not do most or all have some required trimming and if so which has least trimming and also which has the sleekest most hidden mounting so that if I do trim it at least looks nice. I have installed a Draw Tite 76128 on 2018 and 2022 CRVs gas EXL without trimming but of course they are different hitch and CRV models. Final question which hitchs some close/similar to factory? Thanks

Hello Lee,

After looking carefully through the hitches, the only one that I see that does not require an trimming is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76128, which happens to be the one that you have installed before.

I looked up the OEM hitch receiver ($511... ouch) and it replaces the support beam. There are not any hitches from the aftermarket guys that do that, but work just as well =)

If you needed some wiring for the your 2018 Honda CR-V, I would go with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118741. Don't forget a # 18144 for a clean looking install.

What do you mainly use your hitch for? Light towing, bike rack, etc?

Thanks so much I appreciate it. I use it almost exclusively for a bike rack. Also I do see the excludes hybrid in the description now- This 2026 Sport Touring is a Hybrid. Will this 76128 still fit or do you have another suggestion? Lee

@Lee Yes, that is correct Lee. The # 76128 will not fit the 2026 CR-V Hybrid, instead you will want the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT79MR, this one fits the 2026 whether it is Hybrid or not a Hybrid.
