Hey Jeff, you do not need to use safety chains with the PullRite Single Point SuperLite Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # PUL33RR due to how the safety chain laws are written. Since the hitch does use a hitch ball in a traditional sense safety chains aren't needed.
