Published 08/26/2025

Question:

I have a 2021 Grand Design Refection 150. It has a WFCO Model WF-8930/50 system. I would like to change my dual 6V batteries to be lithium. What do you recommend?

Hey there Colin, that's a good idea. Lithium is the way to go for more efficiency and longer run time. Since your WFCO WF-8930/50 is just the distribution panel (the breaker and fuse box), you don’t need to replace the whole thing. What you’ll be changing is the converter/charger that actually keeps your batteries charged. For lithium, you’ll want a unit that provides the right charging profile.

The best option we recommend is the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger – 12V – 60A # PD79RR. It’s a reliable, lithium-compatible charger that will take the place of your old converter and tie right into your existing panel and batteries. You’ll connect it to power on the AC side through a breaker, then run its DC output to your panel’s DC bus and batteries (protected with a fuse or breaker on the positive line). Once set to lithium mode, it will give your new batteries the proper charge they need.

So bottom line: you keep your WF-8930/50 panel, swap in the # PD79RR converter/charger, and you’re ready to enjoy the benefits of lithium power. Does that sound like it suits your needs? Or were you thinking along the lines of something different?
