Will a Fortron Model TP3SS-55 Work With a Lithium Battery

Updated 08/12/2025 | Published 08/07/2025

Question:

I have a 30 amp Fortron Power control center/charger TP3SS-55 in my 2008 Holiday Rambler 5th wheel. I am planning on going to a LiFePO4 100 amp Battery and wanted to know if I my current charger will charge a lithium battery. If not, what do you recommend? Bill

Thanks for your question, Bill.

This one might be a bit tricky to answer, since we don’t carry Fortron or LiFePO4 products, so my resources are a bit limited.

I searched around for info on the Fortron TP3SS-55, but unfortunately wasn’t able to find anything specific. When replacing a control center or charger, it’s always best to match the specs as closely as possible to your original unit to ensure compatibility and performance.

Would you be able to take a look at the sticker or label on your Fortron unit and send me the specs listed there? That’ll give me a better idea of what we’re working with. I’m confident one of the Progressive Dynamics units we carry, like part #PD4060K—could be a great fit, but we just need to confirm the specs first.

For reference, I’ve included a picture of the spec label from part # PD4060K below so you can see the kind of information we’ll need and what should be on the sticker.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
