Question:
Hello, I have a tandem 2001 ez loader for my Sea Ray 185 BR. I am trying to figure new brake assemblies for it. Spec’s say 4000. How do I know which brake assemblies and which entries to make for axle capacity on your configurator? Thanks

Hello Alan, thanks for reaching out. The correct brake assemblies for your trailer will depend on the weight capacity of your axle. That goes hand in hand with the drum size.
Do you know the weight capacity of your axle? There should be a tag or sticker on the axle tube that shows the capacity. If not, I should be able to use the casting number on your drum to look up the specs I need.
For example, the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-35-SA are standard for 3,500 lb axle. They have 10" diameter by 2-1/4" wide brake shoes. The backing plate uses 4 bolts. You could also just measure the current brake assemblies and find the correct brakes that way.
If this does not match what you have just let me know. With a little more info I will be able to track down what you need.
