Will Furrion FR26PR Work With FACR14SA-BL Distribution Box?

Updated 08/26/2025 | Published 08/13/2025

Question:

I need to replace my Furrion AC unit FACR14SA-BL It is 3 years old and out of warranty and died July 12. Furrion gave me a discounted price for the new low profile unit p/n 2024044597 @ $1,196 plus shipping which is now has the new R32 refrigerant . My indoor distribution box is a FACT12CA-PS and Furrion says the new part will fit upto the old indoor air box with the same 4 mounting bolts I was looking at your unit FR26PR and it looks identical to my dead rooftop unit and would like to know if it too would replace my existing FACR14SA-BL and bolt up to the existing indoor unit? Your unit is significantly less expense at $869 then the new R32 unit but Im also concerned that the FR26PR with the R410 would be less reliable as mine was and I might have to be replacing it again in 3 years. Please let me know 1. is the FR26PR unit compatible with my existing mounting box and indoor unit? OR 2. Would it really be worth the extra cost to get the new R32 unit instead? Thx, and please let me know,

Hello Jim, thanks for reaching out. To answer your question, yes, the Furrion # FR26PR AC unit will work and bolt up to your existing FACR14SA-BL indoor unit. The # FR26PR uses the old r410a refrigerant so it will be compatible. The newer R32 units would not be backwards compatible with your old AC system, so using one of those would require you to swap out the whole AC system, rooftop unit, distribution box, controller and thermostat.

That said, the r410a units are being discontinued. So this solution will work for you now, but if you need to replace the AC in the future you will need to change out the whole system. So it is not really a matter of "if" you will need to swap out the whole system. it is a matter of when. The R32 units are not backwards compatible with the r410a AC systems.

What kind of camper is this going in?

Thank you Jessie, My trailer is a Transcend 200MK by Grand Design. I have been working with the Furrion techs and they cannot sell to older R410 replacement units for the same reason as they are being replaced by the new R32 units. Matt W. at Furrion Lippert customer support gave me this part number, 2024044597 as the new low profile R32 unit and he says it will bolt up to the existing indoor unit but I am a bit skeptical and it is a lot more money, even at 20% off retail at $1,196 + tax and shipping. Thanks for your help. I'll be getting back to you. Jim Larson

@JimL I am skeptical of that as well. From everything we have been told and everything we know, the R32 unit would most likely not be compatible with your current AC system. Like if your distribution box and controller are for an r410a AC unit, they would not be compatible with the R32 rooftop unit. My understanding is when they switched to the R32 some of the internals of the AC unit had to be rearranged. The R32 is more flammable, so the refrigerant has to be moved farther away from any potential heat source. So in some cases if you try to use an R32 unit with an old AC system it could be a potential fire hazard. I have not seen this happen but for this reason, if you end up getting the R32 unit I strongly recommend swapping out the rest of your AC system. Not only for safety reasons but this is the only way we can guarantee everything will intercommunicate correctly. Sure there is still a chance it all works together fine, but not something we can guarantee. Contact me anytime if there is anything else I can do to assist.

@JimL Hi Jesse, I had asked some questions on the Furrion (Lippert) web site about the unit we have been talking about and they say the FACR13HESA-PS-AM which corresponds to you part number FR26PR is NOT a "soft start" unit yet your web site information and the video stated that it is a soft start unit so now I am confused. I want to be sure the FR26PR stock number which is the Furrion model FACR13HESA-PS-AM, SKU 2021130014 is a soft start unit so that it will power up with my 2400-watt generator. Please reply, thanks JL
