Looking For Replacement AC Unit For 2004 American Camp 5th Wheel

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/13/2025

Question:

Help please, I have a 2004 American camp fifth wheel that has the carrier air v AC that also controls a suburban gas furnace. The AC has started to degrade and makes squealing noise when compressor engages. Forum research suggest that an advent air ACCAR 150 would be a replacement but doesn’t appear to be available any longer. This is a ducted unit and I need advice on which is the best replacement for the air conditioner at this point? Would this have the option also of a heating element in it and soft start? Would I need to rig up a different way to control the Furnace? Thanks for your help on this Rick G

Hello Rick, thanks for reaching out. I do have a solution for you, but the ACCAR150 has been discontinued so we will need to go in a different direction. If you want a new AC unit that will work with your furnace and with the ducted system, I recommend the following:

- Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - White # FR69TD

This is a complete AC system so you will be replacing the rooftop unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. This is compatible with the ducted system and the thermostat can control your furnace as well as the AC. The Chill Cube is the best AC unit on the market as far as cooling capacity and efficiency. It will be much quieter than the old unit too.

Take a look at the videos I linked, you should find them helpful and interesting.

Hey Rick, how did the Furrion Chill Cube work out for your fifth wheel? I'm curious to know if it met your needs, especially with controlling the furnace and reducing noise. Your experience could really help others in a similar situation.
