Question:
I have a 2024 Toyota 4Runner. I would like to get one towing setup that will function for two purposes: a. A regular adjustable shank for use with no weight distribution bars for towing a small, light weight trailer. b. A weight distribution hitch for towing an RV travel trailer. Is there a hitch system that will do both?

Hey Eric. Those are two entirely separate parts. If you really wanted to you could run your weight distribution system without the bars just using the head depending on the system. Other than that you'll need a standard ball mount in addition to a weight distribution system.
For an adjustable ball mount, I recommend our etrailer item # e66PR. This ball mount has a 7,500 lbs or 10,000 lbs capacity and includes 2" and 2-5/16" hitch balls. It offers up to a 6" drop or rise and has three adjustable positions. From the center of the hitch pin hole to closest part of the ball mount is 3".
How heavy is your trailer when it's fully loaded or its GVWR? Weight distribution systems like the Reese item # RE34FR work with trailer's that have tongue weights between 200 lbs - 600 lbs. The best way to figure out your tongue weight is to go off of the trailer's total weight.
