How to Run the Charge Line on a 2020 GMC Canyon

Updated 08/18/2025 | Published 08/11/2025

Question:

I have a 2020 GMC canyon that is already fitted for towing but the negative terminal battery disconnection requirement prohibits me to run a charge line in the truck. Is there any solution to run a charge line in a 2020 GMC canyon an still have the battery disconnected? My RV already has a charge line to its connector from a previous vehicle so I am good on the RV side. Cheers

Hey Joe, we've ran into this situation and do have a solution. You'll want to connect the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit item # RM-156-25 directly to the right post on the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect item # RM-766.

I have linked an installation video below that will show you exactly how and where to make these connections. If you skip ahead to the 3:10 mark you'll see exactly how to install the charge line.

Do you already have a battery disconnect installed?

@JoeL Your lever disconnect switch should wire up the same as the Roadmaster item # RM-766 so you would want to connect the Charge Line Kit item # RM-156-25 to the terminal you connect to the battery. Did you check that video out?
