Is There an Adapter to Plug in a Lance Truck Camper

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/02/2025

Question:

We are getting a Lance 960 in a week. We were told the truck needs a special Lance issued socket for the truck. I do not feel comfortable with the fact that on a brand new truck modification or additions to wire harnesses need to be done and they can disturb or alter other electronics. Is there an adapter and extension I can buy to just connect to my truck bumper 7 pin socket? Thank you. Truck is a 2025 F-350 long bed with camper package.

Thanks for writing in, Marco.

The plug that Lance uses on their campers is a proprietary design, and unfortunately, there’s currently no aftermarket adapter available, at least not one that we carry.

According to the Lance owner’s manual, the plug for the camper needs to be wired using 8-gauge wire to handle the power demands of the camper. The standard 7-way connector on your truck doesn’t use 8-gauge wiring, so it won’t be able to deliver the necessary amperage.

The manual also notes:

“Under no circumstances should the plug be altered or changed to another type. Common style plugs are not designed to accommodate the 8-gauge wire or the amperage demands required for the refrigerator.”

I know modifying the wiring on a brand-new truck isn’t ideal, but unfortunately, it's the only reliable way to properly power your Lance camper and ensure everything functions safely and as intended.

Hey Marco, I understand your concerns about modifying the wiring on your new truck. Were you able to find a solution that worked for connecting your Lance camper? I'm curious because it could help others facing the same situation with their new trucks.
