How to Run 2 Champion Generators Off of the Same Propane Tank

Updated 08/04/2025 | Published 08/01/2025

Question:

For these dual fuel Champion generators, can I use the Conntek 14995 duel 30 amp to 50 amp adapter to run these in parallel? And how can I run both of these generators with one propane tank?

Hey Javier, thanks for reaching out!

In order to two Champion generators in parallel you need to use the Parallel Kit # CH84FR as opposed to just a dogbone style connector like the Conntek 14995 you mentioned.

This parallel kit is designed to take the power from two generators and make them "play nice" together whereas just a regular old connector won't be able to regulate anything.

As for both of them being powered by the same propane tank goes, we have the MB Sturgis Dual Propane Adapter Fitting # MBS54FR which can be used for that.

Is there anything else you're needing help with?

I am planning on purchasing two 4000W Champion inverter generators for my 5th wheel, is it necessary to have a neutral/ground bond? I have a Power Watchdog surge protector, or do I need the surge protector when running the dual generators?

@JavierT Yes, you will need to ground the Champion 4,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # CH79FR. If you jump to page 18 of the linked instructions you'll see where Champion talks about grounding the generator.
