Why Not Use Self-Leveling Sealant With Replacement RV Skylight SR67RR

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/02/2024

Question:

Why do you not recommend using self leveling sealant with the polycarbonate 14”x22” smoke skylight. I have a Keystone Fuzion 419 and the original skylight is attached with leveling sealant. Keystone actually suggest using butyl tape and self leveling sealant.

Hey Michael,

You do not want to use self-leveling sealant with the Specialty Recreation Universal Replacement RV Skylight - 14" Wide x 22" Long - Smoke # SR67RR because it is made from polycarbonate, which doesn't mesh well with that type of sealant and can cause crack. The skylight does come with its own sealant, which you'll want to use when installing it.

Hey Michael, how did things go with sealing the polycarbonate skylight on your Keystone Fuzion? Your results could really help others trying to choose the right sealant for their setup.
